Ice Castles, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Every now and then even someone as old as I am, 56, see something unusual, and wants to explore it!  A few months ago, I saw a news piece about the Ice Castles in Lake Geneva, I knew I had to go and see them for myself!  Let me tell you, even at 5 degrees when I got out of my car after the hour and ten minute ride, it was worth the $20.  I got there about 5:00 p.m. so the sun was still up when I got there...

The photo above is looking out over Lake Geneva.
 Looking at the sky...
 Through the ice...

The photo of the day, is the one below.  I was trying to capture the ice and the sun going down when the girl in pink walked into the shot and BAM, she was the focal point of the shot!

In the middle of the exhibit was a huge mound of ice which was spouting water.  When darkness set in, the colors changed in the ice, making for wonderful photographic opportunities.

To me, if you just look at the BLACK in the photo above, to me with the shape of the icicles, I see a medieval castle.  The one below, looks like a skull to me!
The last one, looks like a crown, or a cake maybe?

When I arrived the temperature was maybe 5 degrees outside and by the time I left, nearly 2 hours later it was 1 degree outside, and Lord know what the feels like temp was if you factor in the windchill!  The extremes to which I go to get a good shot is crazy!

As always, I own the rights to all of these photos.  If you see something you like, I will be glad to sell you any photo which speaks to you.  I can, as always, be reached by phone at 847.636.9130 or via email at mwnphotography@gmail.com.  Thank you for looking, any and all comments welcomed as well as suggestions on what I should shoot next!

Until next time, keep clicking that shutter...

Mike
